Just get sure you get the really latest version of NetExtender, which is not in the NetExtender section, the SMA series section is the best spot for this, just check the latest firmware versions and you'll find the latest NetExtender as well.

Maybe you have to scrape the old version of the NetExtender from the system, sometimes the uninstaller leaves some files remaining which can cause weird issues.

Commented: What's handing out IPs? Click the Advanced tab and made sure the conflict detection number is greater than 0 and less than 6. This is the number of pings it attempts before assigning an IP or not.

I use the sonicwall to hand out IP for this reason. It's always worked well for me. Here is an article I wrote on setting that up. Author Commented: Maybe I need to do a packet trace? Any advice on how that is done? And what do you know, the ping went through, and all was working as it should, here's a sample packet: No.

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought assigning a static IP resolved the issue. As I read it again, I see where the issue persisted after the reconnect.

Once the VPN is connected, are you seeing anything in the sonicwall logs regarding dropped packets? I'll need to review the log information a little. No, there is nothing about packet loss in the sonicwall logs. SonicWALL Global VPN Client Issue: Could not find domain controller for this domain

Server Fault is a question and answer site for system and network administrators. It only takes a minute to sign up. One of my users is having problems with his NetExtender connection.

After that, attempting to reconnect gives. This seems odd to me because the user name, password and domain are entered on the NetExtender client. After this error occurs, the only way to connect again is to uninstall, reboot, and reinstall NetExtender. Any clues? I have had some seemingly random success. I would just try and try and eventually it would work. I thought this might be related to time so I checked the config on the firewall and DC and everything was in perfect sync, so I don't think that is the issue.

It is possible the problem is related to Auth scheme.

sonicwall netextender authentication failed

Another possibility I haven't been able to test yet, related to the above, is that the reason is related to the computer trying to connect not being a member of the domain. However, the issue is the same when using a "LocalUser" from the sonicwall device. I have also tried the version of NetEx that gets installed from the portal, as well as the latest version from mysonicwall. I know this is very after the fact, but I find that most NetExtender connection problems can be solved with one of:.

If you're using a wired NIC, connect, disable the network adapater, re-enabled the network adapter, reconnect. I tend to use these two techniques to work around the issue of a connection dropping, and upon reconnection, only the "Sent" bytes counter in the SSL-VPN NetExtender client showing traffic while "Received" sits connects with about bytes received and just stays on that number. Coming back to explain my findings: this turned out to be caused by an old firmware on the Sonicwall device, incompatible with the latest NetExtender client, while the compatible client was incompatible with Windows 7.

Cox DNS hijacking was a significant confounding factor on the client end as well. Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top. Home Questions Tags Users Unanswered.

So on a whim I tried enabling IPv6, and suddenly I was connected! However my other problem machine already had IPv6 on.

So I worked a bit, checked a few things and got disconnected when I made a change on the server end. Tried to reconnect, failed. Now we just need to figure out what, and why it's not happening automtically.NetExtender connection failed. The error started occurring after our ISP have upgraded the speed at that location or so staff at location claims.

ISP have replaced their modem during upgrade, but claim they haven't changed a thing either.

sonicwall netextender authentication failed

We've had same provider upgrade speeds at multiple other locations with similar equipment and had no issues with SSL VPN. Can you access Can your RDP to a computer on 1. I can also RDP into a computer on 1. Have you been able to access it before? Did you try uninstalling NetExtender and reinstalling? Are you using LDAP users or local user accounts? In either case, I have had that error and the solution was to take all caps out of the usernames.

I would make a new fresh account and try it. Have already tried "fresh new account" to no avail. RE mobile connect, - the point is not to use it, we use desktop version, and I've tried to connect from different locations, including my house with same error occurring. Just as a means of isolating the issue. ISP have replaced their modem during upgrade. So everything was working fine before these updates? Is this a laptop, so the user can take it to another ISP connection to test? My previous response to that - " I've tried to connect from different locations, including my house with same error occurring.

So if you've tried from more than one ISP and more than one machine, that would certainly rule out it having anything to do with their modem or speed upgrade.

Or with corruption on their PC. That pretty much has to be an issue with the account. Can you try a different, known working, account, from their location? Which account, from which location?

I tried creating a completely new local user on the sonicwall in question to no avail. Maybe I misunderstood. I thought you said you had other users up and running with no issues.

Is that the case? If so, can you try their credentials from this non working location? The idea is to pin down if the issue is credential related or not. When trying to connect, I get an error listed in paragraph 2 of my question. I thought the issue was pretty clearly explained. What changed since it worked: ISP upgraded speed and replaced the modem.

ISP claims no other changes were made and they don't block anything at modem level. This is what I was referring to.The user name and password are correct, and I can connect with the Android app. The president of our company just got a new laptop, and it has Windows 10, and I'm hitting a wall everywhere, but need to get her connected to our office.

It used to work with the same router settings on Windows 7. Every different method of trying to connect is giving a different error. The strangest to me is "The specified port is already open. Go to Solution. I was able to fix the problem using NetExtender version 7. This was the only version back to 5. View solution in original post. Using the most recent NetExtender 8. The server may be down or your internet settings may be down. I'm seeing this with some of our Windows 10 Surface users too.
